Artist profile

Beth Wurcker, aka Miss Betty, is a Canberra based artisan producing handmade beads and jewellery since 2008.

Miss Betty's beads are made from a variety of materials with polymer being the major player. With its infinite colour palette, strength and versatility as a medium, the results are stunning.

Beth produces wearable, high quality yet affordable one-off pieces, designed to be worn and loved for many years.

Taking inspiration from fabrics, art-even cracks in the footpath, her designs are either monochromatic or richly coloured, but never flashy. Strong patterns and color combinations excite her eye but never seek to dominate the personality of the wearer.

Beth invites commissions for individual beads or complete pieces. Workshops can also be arranged and a one day introduction to polymer clay is offered through the Brain Gym in Weston ACT (please see their website for details).

Almost time to head off for France!

Only 11 days to go til I head off for my 4 day polymer clay workshop in the south of France- the five American tutors are all really well known and I can't wait to dive in! I'll be spending some time in Paris and also a few days with my cousin in Cannes but the highlight will be the 5 days spent in the tiny village of Luc sur Orbieau living with a French family and being inspired.
Since the exhibition I've been busy making orders for two shops on the South Coast of NSW who stock some of my work as well as doing some custom orders. I am also holding a one day workshop through the Brain Gym in Weston in late October- I will come back from France with a million ideas!
